What’s The Point You Say

Between our communities is a lovely green belt with trees and access for all residents. You may have noticed some signage talking about a Rapid Transit Corridor. You may also have heard that SANDAG will be ripping it out and constructing a bus and pedestrian ramp/bridge  over the 125 to Otay Town Center Mall. Despite what you may have heard there IS a chance to change this. We as a whole community can have a positive effect, we can convince them to divert the route to a proposed route along Olympic Parkway from East Palomar to the Otay Ranch Mall. The Treviana community including their H.O.A. have been very active in starting this fight to keep the bus route from our community, and have welcomed any one who want to assist and try to offer information when available. Sadly the Monet H.O.A. is not responsive and told it’s residents  “Maybe you should move.” Monet residents, don’t think because the HOA isn’t on board that you have to suffer in silence. We have spoken with other communities outside of Chula Vista who also have issues with SANDAG’s transit vision and they have are willing to work together to share their information and experience with us. Interestingly enough SANDAG was just involved in a lawsuit in regards to their implementation of their regional transit plans. We are apart of that plan, which a judge told SANDAG to head back to the drawing board.

Already some residents including myself have started to take the necessary steps to begin the process. This includes getting the information out, getting people involved, and letting the big shots know  we are not going to let them build a busy bus route 11 feet from front doors! We support the use of public transport but believe any route chosen should not depress our home values, quality of life, and health. By saying no to the SANDAG preferred route between our communities you are not saying no to public transportation.

We DO need your help. You can’t assume, “Oh someone else will comment, attend meetings, or talk with neighbors.” because no one else will speak for you. Three or four regular people will not make the difference or impact we need. What will help is more people getting involved. When is the last time you stood up for yourself, your family,or  your community?
